Glass SplashbacksOver the years Ultimate has seen the increase in the use of glass for both kitchen & bathroom splashbacks instead of tiles. The obvious advantages are the lack of joins or grout, they are easier to clean and the vast choice of colour & in some cases texture. Glass splashbacks are made of 6mm toughened glass either clear glass or low iron glass. Clear glass has an impurity in it iron and is green on colour and with painted splashbacks the green can change the colour slightly and in some cases a lot. This can be avoided by using low iron glass which has little to no effect on the colour. The glass is manufactured in its normal float state once all hole power point cut outs are done the glass is heated up & rapidly cooled. This process of toughening the glass means it is now 6 times stronger and cannot be affected by heat again so it is safe to cook next to. A colour is chosen to paint the glass and our expert painter will paint to your requirements. He can paint any colour from Dulux Master Pallet or can colour match as required although can vary the shade by 10%. The splashbacks are then adhered to the wall and left to set for 24-48 hours and silicone is corked between joins. If it is a bathroom wall at this point the shower screen is fitted and the job is finished as simple as that. If it is a kitchen as soon as the silicone is set the job is done. We also have available mill board to be fitted behind the cook top, a fire retardant board to keep the walls safe from the heat of the cook top. This is a building regulation. Have one of our expert designers call out, he has colour samples for your convenience. Splashbacks are also available in mirror must still be toughened but can be done also in slump glass has been a welcomed addition giving lots of patterns. |
