Glass balustrade with aluminium frames aluminium comes to Ultimate as a raw material, we cut, weld & manufacture the extrusions to fit your balcony and can be glazes in 6mm, 10mm or 12mm toughened glass, clear, coloured or obscure finishes. The glass is glazed into posts and the handrail giving the glass support on 3 sides. The bottom edge of the glass is frameless because the aluminium comes raw then it has to be cremated and powder coated and can be done in any Dulux Powder coat colour see Stainless steel mostly is 50mm round section and comes in a high polish or mirror finish it has grooves to take glass in and sections do 180º, 90º, 45º but we have found that we can adapt any stainless steel section to take glass. The advantage of stainless steel is it can be used in most areas and is corrosion free. Although it does T-Stain so it’s not stainless! See our job photo’s for designs or have one of our designers call out to design your balustrade. A very popular way of fitting frameless balustrade is using diverse clamps which is a 300mm mini post, 2 of them hold a 12mm toughened glass panel and the handrail goes over the top so the glass is frameless all but the top edge. This type of balustrade has become our top seller over the past few years, glass can also be fitted into a channel in your deck so glass has no visible fixing but still a handrail is required. A popular way to fix frameless glass balustrade to your deck is to bolt fix with engineered bolts in stainless steel to the facia of the deck. This is also popular to fix to treads of stair cases again handrails can either be fixed on top or bolted to side of glass. The development of sky glass this year has seen the introduction of engineered glass which is grouted in channel on bolts or mini posts and has no handrail, the glass is a special laminate make up 2 x 6mm toughened glass with an interlayer to withstand impact, making the need for handrail is not required. This product has strict requirements as an engineer has to certify the job on completion. See our photo gallery! |
